Janelle Maiocco

Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I live in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle on an Urban Farm (w/ five laying hens and a huge garden). I am a trained chef (w/ a certificate in food preservation), taught at a cooking school & like to share 'kitchen hacks' - culinary tips that save time, money & maximize flavor. If that isn't enough, I also run a food+tech startup called Barn2Door.com - a platform to help everyone easily find & buy food directly from farmers, fishers & ranchers (from CSA's to urban farm eggs to 1/2 a grass-fed cow).

blue cheese dressing. aka blue cheese dipping sauce.

Blue Cheese Dressing works beautifully on a salad with romaine and dried cranberries. Blue Cheese Dressing is all you need with crunchy greens and fresh dill. Cucumbers even.

Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce (same as the dressing): ladle some into a small bowl to accompany steak skewers

Blue Cheese Sauce is ideal for a steak sandwich, on burgers, with fries...

Sauce, Dip or Dressing? it doesn't matter. You will love it regardless of extraneous identifiers; it keeps for 1-2 weeks. Store in a jar.

Blue Cheese 'dress, dip and sauce' 1 cup sour cream 1 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup buttermilk 6 oz crumbled Gorgonzola cheese 3 cloves minced garlic 1 1/2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Gently stir by hand or pulse in small blender just to combine.

Grilled Steak Skewers & Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce I bought steak already on the skewers, and marinated it with a small bottle of meat marinade from the market (most markets have a nice selection, I use a variety of marinades from Whole Foods). Just put the skewers in the Ziploc bag with the marinade at the beginning of the day---if you think of it---or an hour before the meal, if you don't. Serve with Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce alongside.
